assistance to small businesses in the form of loans. However, there

How long does it take to get a loan?
Community Futures St Paul - Smoky Lake Region strives to process
loan applications as quickly as possible. As the needs of each client
varies, so can the loan application process. Once the client has provided
a business plan and other necessary information to our Business Officer,
the proposal can be assessed. The loan is then presented to the Board
of Directors for a decision.
Do I need a down payment to borrow money from Community Futures?
Each loan request is analyzed on its own merit. Therefore the equity
requirement to secure a loan with us is flexible. However, the more
equity provided the better the chances are that the loan may be granted.
I am thinking of starting a business, what do I need to do?
There are many steps in starting a business. Some clients already
have an idea in mind. Others are starting from scratch. No matter
which step you are on, Community Futures St Paul - Smoky Lake Region
can help. Whatever your requirements may be, contact the office nearest
you to find out how we can assist you in the process. From planning
to implementing, from marketing to bookkeeping, we can help your small
business, even if is only at the idea stage. If you are not sure what
business you would like to start, come in and browse through our business
library which has hundreds of ideas.
How much money is available to me through Community Futures?
We have the ability to lend up to $150,000 in repayable financial
assistance for new and/or existing businesses. There is also a Western
Youth Entrepreneur program which has access to small business loans
up to $25,000.
Who is eligible for a Youth Loan?
If you live in our region and are between the ages of 18 to 29, you
may be eligible. You should also have a creative business plan or
idea and be interested in financial independence.
Our organization has trouble keeping volunteers and conducting
effective meetings. Can your organization help us?
Yes, part of our mandate is to provide services to community groups.
We may work directly with your organization or put you in touch with
another office that would better suit your needs.
Is there anyone in the region that can help our community
with economic development?
Yes, Community Futures St Paul - Smoky Lake Region would be very interested
in working with your community. We may help community leaders and
residents develop a plan. Once the plan is in place, we can also help
implement it in order for the community to reach its economic development
goals. We also have contact with other federal and provincial organizations
that can assist your entire community or the groups within.
